Book 1: Girl, Wash Your Face
Welcome to my online book club! Reading for me is time to escape, regroup, get motivated, get "me" time, learn, and so much more! Every book club I've ever joined sadly never worked out. Even though it was always added to my calendar, every scheduled time that was meant for meet up to discuss the book, life with kids and photography happened. I would always be so disappointed that I would miss the time to talk about everything I had read, highlighted, had questions about, took notes on, adult interaction, etc.
So! Problem solved! I am starting an online book club for EVERYONE who wants to join! I will post a new book (And a coffee mug - just because I love them) about every 6 weeks so everyone has time to get it, read it and still live their busy schedules! Best part... We will not meet up on a specific day! "Sigh" So much pressure taken off! Whoop!
Write your thoughts, questions, opinions, comments, WHATEVER! Do you love it? Hate it? On the fence? Let's just get some dialog going.
I chose this book to start off the #Bookclub, because personally, I loved it. I loved it so much I bought 4 copies for friends and family for Christmas. On the flip side, I also have friends who did not connect with it at all. Perfect point - we are all on our own journeys, in different seasons in our life, connect differently to content, etc. - and that's okay! Whether you loved it or...didn't, comment why. Go ahead and be vulnerable - it's something I am working on too!
Here are my personal get-a-ways:
*YOU are in control of YOUR happiness.
*Life is happening TO you, or life is happening FOR you. YOU decide.
*You are never going to get to the next place, if you have an anchor weighing you down - no matter how good of a swimmer you are.
*Focus on finding the meaning - if you only focus on the bad stuff, you lose the purpose of the meaning.
*Your past is a stepping stone to get you to where you are.
*Let your scars be your story about why you were made for something better!
*You did not come this far, to only come this far!
*If you are not growing, you will not be fulfilled
*Write yourself a letter to you and give yourself credit for everything you have done!
*You are the combination of the 5 people you spend your life with.
*Your dreams are worth fighting for. It wont be easy!
Each of these points came directly from Rachel Hollis, the author of the book. Some came from the book and some came from her documentary #MadeforMore - FOR FREE on #AmazonPrime - It's AMAZING. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I can't even choose which is my favorite because I love them all.
I would love to hear your thoughts, comments and views! Who wants to begin!?
